I absolutely love this game! The credits nearly made me cry. It just has a lovely charm and good puzzles. However, I cant find the puzzles for the last row in the Large Album. I've found everything else and finished the party at the end but it says I'm five puzzles short. Any tips?
However, I think I'm stuck or missing something. I can't continue through the Bed and Breakfast. I've done the puzzle the person behind the desk gives you and the puzzle in the pot, but when I try to continue it says to talk to the person behind the desk. Is there something I'm missing?
This is a fantastic game! It really captures the feeling of one of those hidden gem GB games. A little mysterious, rewards you for poking your nose into absolutely everything, and super fun. I love a nonogram game with other gameplay in the mix, and I actually love the submit-to-confirm puzzle system too. It's making me better at scanning for errors and figuring out how to fix them (and I've played a ton of nonogram games before). Also there's SO many puzzles! The main game itself is great but I unlocked the bonus area earlier and was blown away by all the extra puzzles waiting for me.
Just one question (hints welcome!): where are the rest of the ducks? I only have four somehow.
I'm loving this game! I love picross games so much and love the added complexity of numbers not being auto-crossed off and having to submit to se if it's correct. I'm a bit stuck though. I can't find the item to get the jellyfish and I feel like I've really been everywhere!
Thanks for your comment, and I am so glad you like the game! Columbrine has given you a good hint--you'll need to explore the Moon Cottage Bed & Breakfast to find the Jellyfish's missing stone. :)
I'm sorry for getting to this comment late! I missed the notification somehow.
No worries! What a sneaky little hidden bit, I love it! This game is so much fun and I love all the extras :) I finished the main bit and was so excited to see all the bonus puzzles!
Thanks so much! I am happy to say that I have been working on a sequel to TaiFab, and my hope is to release it this year.
I do not have a Ko-Fi, but I have been thinking about it. π I will certainly make an announcement if I do! You can find me on Bsky if you'd like. https://bsky.app/profile/objetdiscret.itch.io
Thank you for making this. I've played a ton of picross games, and I've never seen one that makes you submit the puzzle when you think you're done. At first I wasn't sure what to make of it, but I actually like the idea a lot. The no punishments or indications of when you hit a wrong square is only figured out by your own merits when you correctly/incorrectly submit it at the end. I also really like the story, good stuff. My only critique is the controls are a little slidey in the puzzles.
I adore Picross and this game was such a treat. In fact, this may well be the best homebrew I've ever played; it's really well made and feels like a complete package of the same calibre of any big studio GBC release of that era.
Thoroughly enjoyed getting to 202% (took me ~10h). The setting, story and friendly vibes make this such a nice game to wind down with. The simple adventure feel paired with Picross goes so well and I would be very excited if a sequel was ever released.
I also absolutely loved the chiptune versions of the various classical pieces, was a very pleasant surprise to come across some of my favourites as I was playing.
This comment means a lot to me, and I truly appreciate that you took the time to write it. I'm pleased to say that I have been working on a sequel (although I took a brief hiatus on that to work on an update to the first TaiFab--I'm going to a gaming convention this weekend and hopefully bringing physical copies of the game)!
It's really gratifying to read comments from players like you. Thank you so much!
Played a few official Picross games recently from across the Nintendo consoles and I genuinely feel that this surpasses all of them. Thank you for hours of puzzle fun!
SECRET 202% PARTY IN THE SEWERS LET'S GOOOO Absolutely adorable little fever dream of a Picross Gameboy game. I love the backstory, sounds like something I would do while sick lol.
I am in favor of more people turning their weird fever dreams into funny creative projects! Thanks so much for playing TaiFab and sharing your kind comment!
I'm very glad I randomly stumbled upon this game. I love the humor and atmosphere. The puzzles are engaging without being too tough. Thanks for making and sharing your fever dream of a game
What a cute little game. I just finished it in around 6h on my Miyoo Mini Plus.
I love the idea of the museum and the overworld, I just wish the actual picross engine would be more fleshed out, especially when compared to Mario's Picross. Some grid lines or acoustic feedback would go a long way, maybe even crossed-out numbers.
I'm looking forward to the sequel, or any other objetdiscret games for that matter :)
This may be really dumb, but I think I managed to talk to secret box-chan in the looong gallery with the least amount of puzzles completed.
I meandered through this game over the course of a few weeks at first and then I played again and again and again as I found it soothing. Then for fun I just decided to try and fill up all the fish powers and special items without doing any small puzzles (excepting the one 4x4 for chad's tank).
Edit: Hm actually now thinking of it I suppose the dream puzzles don't need to be done to get here so it could be 10 less, but that would have aggravated my brain to leave them out lol.
Cool, you're doing low% runs of TaiFab! That makes me really happy that you're enjoying the game enough to experiment with playthroughs. Thank you so much for your kind comment! π I hope you'll look forward to the sequel. π
It's working perfectly. I finished with 19 hours of gameplay. I actually finished in 7 hours, but I did everything in 19 hours. I got all the achievements in retroachievements too.
Is it possible to hit 100% when rolling the credits? Iβm at like 89% and just beat the game. Still missing an 8x8 puzzle (1st column, 3rd row) and the bottom two rows of 12x12.
Want to make sure I hit everything I can before heading to the Looong gallery.
Congrats on beating the game! You can get 100% before you enter the Looong Gallery, yes. π I hope you're enjoying TaiFab!
If you want, there are hints below for the missing puzzles you mentioned: . . . . . . . . . . Have you tried going behind the counter to talk to the innkeeper? Have you tried sleeping in empty beds?
Good on you! I know losing progress hurts, especially after hitting the initial 100%, and it warms my heart to know you liked this game enough to overcome that setback and tackle the endgame puzzles! Did you get the game running on a Game Boy emulator, or did you do another play-through in your web browser?
I LOVE your game. Iβve always been a huge Picross fan, and all your puzzles have been great so far. That combined with the cute little story has turned this into one of my favorites.
Is there a change log for what changed in the latest update? I donβt remember which version I flashed to this cartridge, and would love to know whatβs new.
My custom cartridge deserves a better label though! Do you have any concept art or a press kit or anything I could pull some artwork from?
Thank you so much for your comment, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the game! :D I'm always happy to meet fellow nonogram fans and I am overjoyed by the enthusiasm of TaiFab players like you.
Soon after I first released the game, one of the contributors (Columbrine) requested a different handle in the credits, so I updated the ending with that name. That's the only difference! :) (I did not update the browser version because I didn't want to break anyone's save data.)
It's really cool to see a physical copy of the game! I do not have a label or press kit made, unfortunately (and I am currently busy working on the TaiFab sequel), but I know some folks have made their own cover images for use with retro handhelds. Maybe one of those designs could help? :)
I'm super excited to hear that you're working on a sequel. Nonograms are my go-to chill game in the evenings and I'm always looking for more.
Will poke around and see what I can find for cover art that other folks have made, but I'll probably wind up using the art from the game or the web page. Will post back when I get something put together.
is there any screenshots of the puzzles? specifically in the lucid dream? i have been able to solve all the nonograms so far but there's one in the lucid dream i'm struggling with. love it so far!
I'm really glad you're enjoying the game! You might be on the puzzle that my husband finds the hardest. π If you just want the answer, maybe a nonogram solver like this can help: https://fedimser.github.io/nonogram.html Otherwise, you can share a screenshot of where you're stuck and maybe someone can help find the next move. π

By any chance, have you noticed an empty bed in the Developer House? π
Loving the game so far!

I'm so glad you're enjoying the game! Thanks for your comment! π
The Innkeeper mentioned that the room costs money. Have you found any money yet? π
I have not! I'll do some more looking around for some. Thank you for the nudge π

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words, and GG on completing the main quest!
If you are working on the bonus puzzles now, you are already on the way to finding the other ducks. :D
202% complete! Or as I started to think of it, Chad%. That was seriously one of my favorite nonogram games I've played, great work! :)
GG, and thank you!! π π¦
I'm loving this game! I love picross games so much and love the added complexity of numbers not being auto-crossed off and having to submit to se if it's correct. I'm a bit stuck though. I can't find the item to get the jellyfish and I feel like I've really been everywhere!
I'm glad you are enjoying the game! It turns out the Jellyfish isn't the only one in the game with an eye for rocks.
You will find someone else is involved in the gem trade if you look deeper in the Moon Cottage Bed and Breakfast.
Ahhhhh THANK YOU, that's clever!
Thanks for your comment, and I am so glad you like the game! Columbrine has given you a good hint--you'll need to explore the Moon Cottage Bed & Breakfast to find the Jellyfish's missing stone. :)

Yay, I hope the post-game is fun! GG on beating TaiFab! π
202%! Awww this was great! I'd love more games like this one! Do you have a kofi by any chance?
Thanks so much! I am happy to say that I have been working on a sequel to TaiFab, and my hope is to release it this year.

I'm really glad you are enjoying the game!
If you are having trouble finding the Sea Angel, try looking in and around the Developer House north of the Museum
Thanks so much for your kind comment! I'm so happy you're enjoying the game!
As for the sea angel, Columbrine has given the answer in his reply. :D

I'm so glad to hear it, you absolutely deserve all the love you're receiving for this project.
I hope the convention goes really well for you and I will patiently await this sequel!

Wow! Just finished the game after ~2 weeks, that was so much fun!
I'm so glad you had fun with TaiFab! Thanks for playing and commenting! :D
This is one of my favorite GBC games of all time now. Thank you for making such a wonderful game!

Now on to the long gallery...
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. :)
Does anyone know how to find the object to complete the jellyfish fish power? I've been running around looking for it for so long nowww :/
Hi! Have you explored the Moon Cottage Bed & Breakfast much yet? There might be more secrets to find there. π
What a charming little game! I'm having a lot of fun playing it!
I'm just having some trouble finding one item and one fish. I feel like I've searched just about every inch of the game. Please help!
Hey, I'm so glad you're enjoying the game! Thank you for your kind comment!
You'll need to find the last Fish Power in order to get the last item. Have you tried searching the Crystal Lake?
Oh my gosh thank you!! I thought the other side of the dock might have something, but I guess I wasn't walking in the right place!
This may be really dumb, but I think I managed to talk to secret box-chan in the looong gallery with the least amount of puzzles completed.

Looking forward to the sequel!!

that's very exciting to hear!!! I'll be looking forward to it!!!
After loosing my progress last time (which upon further reflection was just an error on my part), I have beaten this game to 201%!
Congrats! I'm sorry that you lost your progress before, but I hope you had fun beating the game!
